What could be better than buying a handmade, one-of-a-kind clothing item from a local brand that also supports sustainability, feminism and basically anything good? We know you just answered nothing, so you need to check out Chinchen St Label. Created by talented local designer Bonnie Tipper, the fashion label is named after the very street Bonnie once resided on. After completing her Bachelor of Fashion Design and Diploma of Fashion Styling, Bonnie decided to stray from the designer label ways she was taught and create her own vintage brand. A collection of all the good things from the 20s right through to the 80s, her designs feature square cuts, loose, bohemian fits and an array of colours, as well as inspiration from the very people around her. The celebration of Newcastle doesn’t just stop with Bonnie’s designs, but in the photo shoots, with many featuring everyday Novocastrians with interesting stories and personalities to share. With a long-term goal of having her own store, you can currently find a range of the label’s stock both online and in local store Stoned Saint Moon. If you want to grab at glimpse at what Bonnie’s up to next, be sure to check out her Instagram @chinchen_st.
